As you may or may not know, I live in Arkansas. I frequently feel like Arkansas is really boring.
Now, with that being said, this Saturday, my husband and I decided to get out and explore some of our state’s natural beauty. I am no longer under the impression that Arkansas is boring, or lame. I think that you just have to know where to look! My hubby and I went hiking yesterday at Petit Jean National Park. It is only about 45 minutes away from where we live, so it was a relatively quick trip. We had an absolutely wonderful time! We were there hiking for about 5 hours, so we were very very tired, and even today I am still very, very sore. (But I burned 2352 calories, so yeah, it was totally worth it, since I had fun in the process!) The hiking was pretty strenuous, but the payoff, oh, the payoff! Beautiful, peaceful, calming scenery, quality time with the hubby, and a workout! We ended up hiking 3 different trails, for a total of about10 miles all together. The greatest thing was the beautiful Cedar Falls, a 95 foot waterfall located at the end of one of the more strenuous hikes, but it was SO, SO worth it1 It was beautiful! I definitely got a feel of why people love nature so much, and why Arkansas has such a reputation of beauty. I mean, it is the “Natural State” after all!
