Yeah, so I wont be going on any more adventures, anytime soon. You would think that since we’re well into the summer months, I would have learned my lesson about leaving home after 11am a LONG time ago, but it would seem that I have not. I really feel that God was truly trying to get the message of “stop your lazy, lazy, procrastination” across to me today. All morning, it has been raining, a cool, drizzly, not “really” raining kind of rain. Perfect weather for running errands, since I wasn’t going to be carrying any bags or anything that would require me to be exposed to it for a long time. But, instead of me using common sense, and leaving to do what I needed to do early this morning, I decided to wait until 11 to leave. How smart of me! ( Insert sarcastic smile here) Instead of being out in the cool, wet weather of the morning, I got to run around in the amazingly hot, wet weather of the afternoon. Lucky me! Seriously, when I finally got home, I distinctly heard angels singing to me when I opened my front door, and that sweet, sweet, wonderfully air conditioned breeze hit me.
So, I get to walmart, to pick up paint, canvas, sketch book, color pencils, just general art supplies. Yeah, I realize that walmart is the BEST vendor of these things. (Insert second sarcastic smile here.) After spending 30mins browsing the 3 aisles that walmart considers an adequate craft section, I came to the surprising realization that perhaps searching for what I needed at Hobby Lobby would be a better use of my time, since they are, you know….a lobby that supplies the items you need for…hobbies. So, with that decision made, I left walmart with a pack of canvases and a sketch book, knowing that I would get them much cheaper there than I would at Hobby Lobby.
So, I get to Hobby Lobby. I head to the paint section, and when I get there, experience a large amount of sticker shock. Who knew that good artists paint was SO expensive? So, I end up getting a set of acrylic paint (Which is the medium I would be using anyway) in the little pots, like a kid set, but for artists. The same set, by the way, that I saw at walmart, and for a lower price. So it was a great choice for me to get it here, instead of in the first store that I saw it. ( Third sarcastic smile) With that done, I head to the colored pencils (In the artists section, not the kids section) where I decide against getting ANY because I am not yet er….lets say experienced enough yet to handle the $50 pack of pencils. We’ll save that for when I develop some actual talent at this art thing.
I go to the kids section, to get a pack of plain roseart colored pencils, and find myself the target of some lady who was apparently trying to kill me and my unborn child with her shopping cart. Now, I’ll be the first to admit, that it may just be paranoia, but it seems to me that since I’ve been pregnant, shopping cart-people have been absolutely gunning for me. True, I am in that in between stage where my bulging tummy may be mistaken for fat rather than pregnancy. But, even if you simply see me as a larger, slower moving target than I previously was, can you at least ATTEMPT to avoid me with your basket? Is it SO much to ask that you push your cart like you’re in a civilized, grocery buying society and NOT racing for your life? Goodness!
Buuuttt, this post is getting way longer than I intended it to be, so I will leave you guys with a picture from my adventure today, and laugh at all of you who would have done your research before you left home, so that you would know that walmart (which is only 5 minutes up the road, rather than across town, like Hobby Lobby) carried everything you needed, and for the cheapest prices you could get it, gotten yourselves out of the house early, when it was cool, and probably not have been nearly mauled by a shopping cart, because I was smart enough to do everything the difficult way. (Of course, you realize that this last section should all be read with sarcastic smile number four.)
(and yeah, that IS food from wendys, even though i had plenty of food at home, since we just went grocery shopping yesterday. SO? whats your point, lol. I wanted what I wanted!)
