Eh. Really, who likes doing that? I can’t think of anyone! But for me, it’s a neccessary evil, at least until I get myself to a place where I can self discipline without needing to look at labels.
Right now, I should be eating 2000 calories a day, to support the fact that I’m breastfeeding. Ideally, I would like to only be consuming 1750, which according to my livestrong.com daily plate calculator, is what I can limit myself to and lose 1.5lbs a week, based on my weight (185) and height (5’8″). But, even consuming 2000 calories, about 300-400 of those (roughly) are passed to Izzy, so I’m actually taking in about 1600-1700. Which is good, I think.
I actually have to make myself eat so many calories. What I eat in a normal day is about 1500-1600 calories versus the 2500-3000+ I was eating when I gained the weight that I am now trying to lose. My diet consisted totally of Big Macs and other junk food, but now that I have a family, my eating habits have drastically changed. Im cooking almost every day, and I don’t buy pre-packaged foods. I dont even buy instant potatoes!
Once I pass the 6-week postpartum mark I will be able to start working out again, so im really excited about that. I am, however, wondering if I am going to need to up my calories, because I dont want to be walking around like a zombie!
Next week I’ll start posting progress pictures. Yeah, Im just THAT BRAVE, lol!
