Soooo…..today was day one of my quest to lose 40 pounds. Yeah, I said it. 40 pounds. It sounds like a BUNCH of weight, and it is, especially for me. Right now, I weigh (yeah, i’m gonna tell it, im not scared, probably because I don’t look like I weigh what I do.) 185.8 pounds. That’s less than 2 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight, and today was my first time working out 🙂
According to the charts, for my height (5’8″) my ideal weight is 140 pounds. At first, I was thinking “Um….yeah right. I would look like a stick. I don’t even see where 40 pounds would come off of me!” But then, I started looking at my body, and really……..I could stand to lose those 40 pounds.
Im going to be starting with a goal of 20, which will put me at 165. My deadline for this goal is May of this year, which is more than realistic. That’s about 5 pounds a month, and between working out, eating right, and breastfeeding, Im almost positive that I will be able to shed closer to 7-8lbs a month.
In today’s workout, I only did 2 miles, since it was my first day back, and I didn’t want to overdo it. I have to be able to go back! I was able to do those 2 miles in 40 minutes, which is much better than I thought I would be able to do after not exercising for nearly a year! (280 days of pregnancy, plus 36 days post-partum is 316 days) to add to that, I was carrying around about 10lbs of extra weight, in the form of baby Izzy! I wore her in the Moby wrap, and while it was comfortable, it was extremely hot! I had completely overdressed Izzy for being worn inside, so when I go back, I will dress in something lighter for inside wear and just bundle her in her snowsuit for when we’re outside.
I will be giving you guys my workout and weight progress every week, as well as sharing diet and fitness tips that I find as I work on whipping myself into bikini shape!
