(Mommy will be doing my update this week, because I don’t feel well)
So, I’m gonna go ahead and count today as the worst day of my life. WAAYYY worse than that day back in junior high when I started my cycle while wearing a khaki skirt.
It started off pleasantly enough, with Izzy having slept through most of the night, for the second night in the row. As usual, she awoke for the day around 7, and I brought into bed with the hubby and I, so I could nurse her. I noticed that she felt warm, but assumed that it was just from being swaddled, so I simply unwrapped her, and finished nursing.
About a half hour later, we got out of the bed, and I took Izzy into the living room to change her diaper. Now, she normally has cold hands and feet, a trait she inherited from her daddy, but today, those things were warm. Very, very warm. So, I took her temperature. 102.8 Trying not to panic, I called the pediatricians office. They told me to be there in an hour, so I was.
Took temperature, checked ears, listened to chest.
“Let’s check for the flu.”
Swab nose. Test for flu. Flu is negative.
“Let’s check for pneumonia”
Xray chest: Strap Izzy into this horrible, terrible, tube thing that HAS to be inhumane. Take xrays. Wait for results. No Pneumonia.
“Let’s check for UTI. Oh, and let’s also do some blood cultures. Oh, and just in case, let’s give her an antibiotic shot.”
Imcompetent nurses stab my baby 3 times in left arm. Can’t find vein. Stab 3 times in right arm, find vein, let needle fall out before enough blood is gotten. Stab baby in hand to get rest of blood needed. Catheter time. Stab tube up baby’s urethra 3 or 4 times before getting it properly positioned to get urine sample for UTI test. Just when mommy gets baby calm, stab baby in thigh for antibiotic shot. THEN TELL MOM THAT AFTER ALL THAT, THEY DON’T KNOW WHATS WRONG.
“Gotta come back tommorrow for test results.”
This has to have been the worst 17week birthday a baby could ever have.
