So, I don’t have very much to report today, unfortunately! Not that I haven’t been doing well, because I have, on my food intake, and on working out. It just sucks for me that my least favorite Aunt decided to come and visit me this week, and she brought along some major bloating. So, as of this morning (Monday, June 21) all of my stats are the same as last week.
I did uncover a gem that I would like to share with you guys though! Nutrition Data is a website that can serve as an excellent resource if you’re doing calorie counting. They have a great tool that tells you your estimated calorie burn, which can help you figure out how many calories you should cut back to achieve your weight loss goal. The great thing? It takes breastfeeding into account. 🙂 While I love spark people, they had me on a recommendation of 1700 calories a day, which not only left me feeling hungry, but isn’t enough to support breastfeeding, when you account for the average 500 cals a day burned while lactating. According to them, 2800 cals a day will maintain my current weight. I’m setting a goal of no more than 2000 a day, which I doubt I’ll meet every day anyway. Probably closer to 1850.
While counting calories though, it’s important to remember that not all calories are created equal. That’s another way that the Nutrition Data site can come in handy. When you search foods (any foods), it tells you the fullness factor of that food, which is basically a score of how well that food works to keep you from feeling hungry. It also offers a score for how good a food is for weight loss, gain, etc. etc.
I would definitely recommend being very careful about what you spend your calories on, and being very conscious of what you eat. For example, on Saturday, I ate a slice of Italian Cream Cake. Sounds good right? It looked good, it smelled good. But really? It didn’t taste that great. It was actually….kinda nasty. And it cost me 440 calories. And a whopping 42 grams of fat. Was is worth it? Absolutely not.
So, that’s all for this weeks post. I have more to say on this calorie thing, but I don’t feel like blogging today, lol. Too much excitement building up, and Izzy is a little ball of energy today!
