The all important structure. The base, that everything else is built upon. Everything stands on the dependability, quality, and overall “good” of your foundation.
Sooo…do you use liquid, powder, cream? ( you knew i was talking about makeup, right?) How do you apply it? Do you use a sponge? A brush? Your hands? What brand do you use? Drugstore or department store? How much does it cost?
I’m a drugstore girl myself, but not because of the lower cost. Well..not really. I just cant bring myself to pay more than $10 for a foundation that I may not like, may be the wrong color, etc. I need to get myself to somebodies makeup counter, with a professional ( because around here, they hire 16 year olds) to help me find something of nice quality, that works for me.
For now though, my brand of choice is Maybelline. I haven’t been able to find shades that match my odd (dark, but with red AND yellow undertones. why me?) skin tone in any other brand. I use their darkest color, which is cocoa. I like their dream matte mousse, in the jar, during summer months. (For some reason, the mousse is a little darker), and the dream liquid mousse, in a pump, in the summer. Even though both provide great coverage for me, and the right makeup shade, I’m beginning to suspect that they may be the cause of break-outs for me, since they’re kind of oily, and I have oily skin. (On my face at least).
I apply with my hands, because sponges annoy me! It seems like they just soak up all of the makeup, and I’m working forever to actually get any on my face!
Both of these run about $7-$8 here, and it’s always a bit of a struggle to actually get them. I live in a predominantly white area, and it would seem like a lot of our stores here don’t realize that black people buy things too! It never fails that if I DO happen to find one, it’s always the last one on the shelf. The only store that keeps properly stocked is a Walmart near the college campus, but it’s a 15 minute drive for me. I have one that’s only 5 minutes away, on my side of town. And at Target? Forget about it! Target doesn’t stock makeup in any colors past what a barely brown girl could wear. Maybe very light Latinas or Multi-racial women, and that’s it. I wonder who I can complain about that to?
Anyway, this has rambled on way longer than I intended. It was supposed to be ONE paragraph! Messed that up, didn’t I? To bring us back to the point, here are my questions again! I would love to hear from you, I need suggestions!
