Ok…so let me tell you guys about how MY God looks over me.
I had a couple of little things wrong with my car. My husband fixed most of these things over the weekend, since it wasn’t anything serious enough to take to a mechanic. So, we get to today, and all it needs is a refill on coolant (antifreeze) to keep everything from getting hot, and keep my AC running properly. I needed to go to the grocery store, so I went ahead and did that, and came home.
Byron tells me that after he puts the coolant in my car, it will be ok for me to take it to Little Rock, which is a bigger city, about 30 miles away, which is where the mall, Babies R Us, Whole Foods, etc is located. So….I start making plans, lol! I probably would have been going in the morning.
So, he’s out, going to the parts store, to get the stuff that he needs, and then to drive it around, and make sure that everything is running the way it should. He comes home, and tells me “The good news is, I got the coolant in there, it’s not running hot anymore, everything with that is good.” Great, right? Yeah…but, the bad news is, while he was on the way back, an important belt broke. So important that when it broke, everything failed. EVERYTHING. Power steering failed, battery failed, basically everything that is needed to safely drive the car FAILED.
Replacing the belt isn’t a big deal. The big deal is, that if that belt hadn’t just HAPPENED to break while my husband was driving the car today, guess when it would have happened? Yeah, tomorrow, on the busy interstate, with my baby in the back seat, in +90 degree weather. What would I have done? I can’t even fathom what my reaction would have been when things on the dashboard started lighting, and my steering wheel stopped working,
Im not even phased by the expense of getting it repaired. (It has to be towed to our mechanic, it’s just that serious). What stands out to me, in a huge way, is the fact it happened while my husband, who knew what to do, was in the car, and not me. Some of you will read it and think “oh, it was just a coincidence”, but I think not. I KNOW that it was God’s favor, on Izzy and I, and nobody can convince me otherwise. My husband could have easily just taken his OWN car, got the coolant, put it in, closed it up, and said “Hey babe, you’re good to go.” But something said to him “Byron, take her car. Drive it around. Take it on the interstate and see what it will do before you send your wife out in it.”
It sends a chill down my spine when I think of the tragic possibilities of your car just FAILING out of nowhere, on the interstate. (Thank God that Byron had JUST exited when it happened). But it warms me through and through to know that we’ve been shown grace. SO many times. If could shout for you guys right now, I would. Shout for me, lol.
