I’m a little afraid to go in my kitchen now. The thought of chopping anything makes me cringe. Is that crazy? I can’t let an accident keep me out of kitchen. I’ll get over it. I hope. We’re eating hot dogs, taco salads, and frozen pizza until then though.
I was able to take off the hospital bandages today. Guess what? I feel a LOT less pain. They had dressed it really tight, to keep presssure on in order for the surgicel to work, so it was causing some extra discomfort for me. But, I DID just take 2 painkillers, so it could be totally unrelated, who knows? I had a few people request pictures, but I thought the rest of youy might unfollow me if I forced such grossness on you, so if you want to see them, you can click here. The wound is covered by surgicel, which i can;t remove, so they’re not TOO graphic, but still pretty gross. I should have let my husband take pictures while I was getting the stitches, and bleeding, and all of that grossness. Even the Triage nurse looked a little freaked out when i handed her a bug chunk of my fingertip in a sandwich bag, lol. It’s actually very hard for me to look at. It seems to hurt more when I look. The piece I cut off was about 0.25in thick, thankfully. At the angle that I cut it, a little deeper would have hit the bone, which may have required a surgery. Thank goodness I had the mandolin on the thinnest slice size, huh? You would think that the fact that it CAME with a finger guard would be enough for me to realize how dangerous a mandolin could be. But no. Not me. I have to go to the emergency room first, I KNEW I would cut myself on the thing, I just didn’t think it would be this bad! Anywho, I’m probably going to spend the rest of the day sleeping it off, because tomorrow I need to get back to work, and back to working out!
