Have you ever heard that ” You can’t out-train bad eating habits”? I’m no diet or nutrition expert by ANYBODY’s measure, but it makes perfect sense to me. Erika over at BGG2WL says it all the time. I understand the logic. I believe the science. So why is it that the part of my brain that understands “Christina, you really, really shouldn’t eat that. You’re not even hungry.” seems to constantly be at odds with the part of my brain that says “Hmm. I should eat something. I’m not hungry, but it’s available, so I may as well!”?
I’ve been busting my butt for about 2 weeks, with no result. That 3lb loss that I had, back at the beginning of February? Well, I’ve gained that back. Plus some. Even though I was working out. Go figure.
I buy the fruit and veggies, so that they’re available. And I LOVE fruits and veggies, so that’s not the issue. The issue is, once I eat that mango, or eat those tomato slices, I’m still craving carbs and sugar. I don’t know what it is about BREAD, but I just can’t enough of it. I could live the rest of my life on cream cheese danishes and peanut butter sandwiches, and die a happy woman. Seriously. But I would be pretty fat. *sigh*
I don’t want to continue putting so much effort into working out, and being sore, just to have my hard work canceled out because I can’t stop shoveling cupcakes down my throat. Do any of you have this issue? How did you overcome it? What types of snacks do you eat to overcome cravings without jeopardizing your weight? Please, please help a sister out!

How do I read this entire post and the word that sticks with me is “cupcake”
And the thought of an assembly line on them entering my mouth is making my mouth water. Oh wait, I’m supposed to be focusing on the weight loss focus right . . . . Cupcake. . . . Ummm . . . Nope. Sorry Chris. I got nothing. I tend to succumb to my appetite. Maybe we need a 12-step program.

I have a sugar monster on my back. In fact, today I have eaten a quarter of a round cake today. Sigh.
The only thing that ever helped me was doing the master cleanse (lemonade and water for 10 days). My cravings for sugar and fried foods ceased. That was 2 years ago but I decided to have a lil bit of something and now I can’t stop. Sugar is addictive.

All I saw was cupcake lol. I have tried to do the diet thing but I usually maintain whether I eat lots of fruits and veggies and exercise or eat lots of sweets. I am not a bread person and I don’t usually eat cake but I love cookies. I can eat the double stuff oreos all day long. I can’t help you I have been thinking hard on joining weight watchers because I so want to loose weight like Jenny but I need to learn to be happy with the size I am and if the weight comes of then it comes off.

The last time I put my mind to it and actually lost about 20 pounds, I found that I never really got over my craving for carbs/sweets. My trick was to work it into my calorie budget. I let myself have SOMETHING sweet every day. it might just be a hershey kiss. But at least once a week, I let myself have a “real” cookie instead of a fake one. But don’t count out the fat free cookies! Weight Watchers has a oatmeal cookie that always did the trick. But don’t deny yourself, or you will want it more!!!!

I can’t say I’ve never ever crave sweets because that would be a bald-faced lie LOL. However for me, the intensity of those cravings lessens when I don’t give in to them so often. If I limit myself to one “treat” a week, I’m much better off than if I give in daily. It also helps to just not have that stuff around if you know you can’t control yourself. I am powerless in the face of a box of Cheeze-Its so I very rarely buy them. If that is hard because of family demands – buy them stuff you know you won’t eat. If The Mister wants cookies, I’ll buy Oreos because I hate them and won’t be tempted.
As far as snacks, it probably depends on what you want. I’ve craved chocolate before and cured the craving with some Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter smeared on a piece of toast. Also, using real whole grain breads will definitely satisfy you more than regular white or “wheat” breads. A slice of Ezekial bread from my local bakery is so dense and filling that I only need one piece for a sandwich. Compare that to something like a bagel where I can eat a whole huge one and still want more.

I am currently going through the same thing. I have been working out pretty hard but have not seen the results that I should because of me eating habits. I was doing pretty good for a while and then I fell off the wagon.
One of the things that does help me are the special k cereal bars. The now have a chocolate chip one and a raspberry cheesecake. If I have these around; its easier to resist some of the other sweets.

I am not big on snacks but I do have a thing for fatty foods. For me, I just had to get to a point.A point where I had to figure out what was more important. This food, or getting rid of that spre tire that is hanging over your pants. That point didn’t necessarily come when I THOUGHT I was ready. But when it did come, I didn’t have too much of a problem letting go of those things. I actually didn’t want them.
