Today marks day 10 of owning a house. And I feel SO at home! I love it! But you wanna know something I was not loving? This:
Our temporary, hasty window covering, made of shop towels and painters tape. This was thrown up the first night at the house, when we realized how creepy the bare windows were at night. It felt like we were being watched! (And then as soon as Izzy spotted them, she very promptly tore part of it down, so that she could see out into the yard.)
We debated back and forth for a while on what do for a window treatment. I wanted to just do the wood blinds, like we did through the rest of the house, but Byron felt they would be too bulky. I wanted to do drapes, but couldn’t decide on a color, because we have no idea what we’re going to choose for the cabinets, counters, and floors later. So, on this weekend’s trip to Lowes (For weed killer, which Byron is currently applying in ridiculous amounts to the lawn, which we’re probably going to end up killing everything and starting from scratch anyway) we took a little detour over the to window treatment aisle. And lo and behold, is our solution! Bamboo roman shades, on clearance, for $10 each! They were, we found out, on clearance because they had been recalled, but the box included the hardware to correct the mistake that caused them to be recalled, so all is well! I installed them myself, while Byron was (is) outside tending to the grass. Took maybe 15 minutes, and a HUGE improvement from the shop towel drapes!
I’ll make sure to get another picture later, when there isn’t so much sunlight coming in, and you can really see how they look!
