So….um….this post is going to be about pubic hair. Fair warning!
So! On to business! I’m afraid to get a Brazilian wax. I’ve heard sooo many horror stories about wax burns, ripped skin, and allergic reactions that I consider it just…out of the question, lol! Not to mention, I’m not really fond of the idea of anyone other than my husband or my OB-GYN being around that area. So, what do I do?
Shaving… also out of the question. I made that mistake ONE time. Two words : razor bumps. *shudder* Waxing? Myself?! Nuh uh. I know women who do this, but I’m not…flexible enough I guess, lmbo! I’ll wax my own eyebrows, but that’s about all I’m waxing. So, again, what do I do? The low fade thing has been working, but with everybody talking about Brazilians, I convinced myself that I NEEDED one. But I wasn’t going to get it.
So I did what everyone does when they don’t know the answer to a question. I googled! “alternatives to brazilian wax” to be exact! And that, my friends, is where I ran across this:
This is shaving powder. Men’s shaving powder. Specifically, for black men, with coarse facial hair. See, some men have coarse, curly facial hair, and when they shave, that hair grows back, as ingrown hairs, causing razor bumps and irritation. This stuff? Melts that &%$# right off!
Needless to say, I was intrigued. So I googled more. And I found out that a LOT of women were using this as an alternative. You know what I did? I went and found myself some. A whole can of the stuff for like, $2 at target! And then…..well, nothing. I got busy with other things, and it sat under my bathroom cabinet. Until yesterday. I randomly though about it, and decided it was time to put this stuff to the test.
So, I prayed. Then I mixed the powder (2 heaping tablespoons according to the directions) with some water. I prayed again once I smelled it. (smells like bad relaxer). I prayed again, and then I slathered it on. And then I waited, for the longest 5 minutes of my life. I imagined all kinds of horrible things, like my skin burning off, and other types of awfulness. At the end of the 5 minutes, I took an empty gift card (don’t judge me! You’re supposed to use a little plastic spatula, but I didnt have one that would work for this!) and I scraped a little section off. And ladies? Holy Smokes, the hair was gone! But my skin was still there! And it wasn’t burned! *dougies* (I really, really, really did dougie. seriously.) So, I finished that up, and OMGSMOOTH! Once I was done, I got in the shower, and using the sprayer, I rinsed really, realllly thoroughly to make sure none of the cream was left on, because everybody that had used it was very adamant that you not leave it on too long.
Razors have NO place in my life anymore. Underarms, leg arm, arm hair, bikini area, I’m melting it allll away, and having smooth skin and no more razor bumps and cuts!! *swoon*
Anywho, this may be TMI, but ….. I don’t care! Have you ladies ever used a depilatory cream? Would you do it again?
