So! My Thanksgiving dinner went really well! All of my dishes turned out well, and aside from a slight turkey-juice-spilling-on-the-bottom-of-the-oven-causing-flames-and-a-kitchen-full-of-smoke incident, there were no mishaps! The menu went as planned, except for the replacement of the pound cake with carrot cake cupcakes. I was so busy that I neglected to get all but THE most random pictures from the day.
We put up our Christmas Tuesday night, since I knew that I would be cooking all day long on Wednesday. (sidenote, I had no idea that I could get SO tired just from cooking. I was on my feet, in the kitchen for about 6 hours. I felt like dying afterward! I used to cook for a restaurant, where I was responsible for all of the hot buffet. I was cooking for 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week then. I’ve lost EVERY piece of that stamina, lol!)
We really need to replace this tree. It’s the little one that we bought last year, for our apartment, and it is wayyy too small for the house, lol! It only stands higher than the mantle because of the tree topper! It will work well enough for this year, but next year we’ll get a big, pre-lit one, and maybe put this one in Izzy’s room, and let her decorate it however she wants to. Or do like the other people in the neighborhood, and put it on the front porch. o_O Yep. Lighter, fully decorated trees, on the front porch. Some people even wrapped boxes and put them under the tree. They’re fancy over here, lol!
Izzy didn’t get to wear the dress that I bought her for the day, because it was actually too hot for a sweater dress, at least inside the house. She still looked cute in her little jeans though!
