Help

I wasn’t going to say anything at this point, because i wanted to make a cute, happy little announcement. I’m pregnant. And it’s anything but cute right now. But I’m grateful. I have to keep reminding myself that this is temporary. I had a hard, very hard time in the beginning when i was pregnant with Izzy. what I’m experiencing this time makes that pregnancy seem like a breeze, even though i know i was extremely sick then as well. Most days i can’t even keep water down. I’m battling a fever, and a sinus infection, for the 2nd time since i found out i was pregnant, 3 weeks ago. I’m 7 weeks now. And I’m struggling with it. The depression, the dehydration, the fear that the baby won’t get what it needs. This is not standard “morning” sickness. I have been through zofran, through two forms of phenergran, with mostly no improvement. The only thing that seems to be working is the unisom/b6 combo, which makes me uselessly drowsy. Today…..was a bad day. But i KNOW that this baby is a blessing, and I’m grateful for the gift. This is just….quite the test! And for several more weeks, at least. If any of you have experienced hyperemesis, please pass along any suggestions, remedies, etc that helped you through it. I’m going to try to see my OB tomorrow, to check on my fluid levels, and make sure the baby is ok. Your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, etc, would be much appreciated.

  4. Awww! I was going to suggest its time to go back to your dr for a check in. Sometimes with bad hyperemesis, some women benifit ftom a continuous infusion of some anti nausea med. It’s a little pump attached to you like your leg, and you get meds 24/7. Glad you are going! Let us know what happens.

Congrats!!!!! I’m sending light and prayers your way. I asked a naturopath friend of mine for any remedies and was sent this link .http://www.helpher.org/hyperemesis-gravidarum/treatments/complementary-alternative/homeopathy.php. I hope this helps.

Sweetie! You’re pregnant?! Congratulations! And oh no! I’m sorry you’re feeling so poorly. I’m sure your Dr will have something that will help. At the very least you can be rehydrated weekly if necessary. I have a cousin who had to do that and her pregnancy is progressing nicely. I hope you find a solution soon!

  9. PreshusMe says:

And don’t worry, your baby WILL get what he/she needs. Out bodies are awesome that way. :) *hugs*

This is only my 2nd time reading your blog, but I love it. I have a fave blog, and yours is now neck and neck with hers. Especially since I can totally relate to your pregnancy woes. I am 5 months pregnant with my 2nd. My 1st was just how you described yours. And the 2nd, well Zofran, Phenergran, and Reglan were all tried as well. 5 hospital visits and several IV’s for dehydration later…I still get nauseous and vomit weekly (sometimes daily). Unfortunately, this may last the entire pregnancy, as it did with my 1st. But at least we know what will be in the next 4 months (7 for you). That helps me get through each rough moment. Some days will be better than others. But the best day is yet to come :)

  16. yay! congrats honey! I’m so sorry you’ve been sick. I second everything Rose’s Daughter says. Just cause she’s the expert. Feel better soon!

poor sicky pooh. I’m glad you’re going into the doctor. You need something that will have you feeling more like yourself. The decline in your “youness” has been not so nice FOR ME!( that was selfish as hell huh lol) I totally miss the bubbly good Christina I have come to know and love so well.

Since Pookah’s momma is the expert, I hope they give you a pump with meds and send you on your merry way and you start feeling loads better. Can’t have you all depressed and what not. *sending you some virtual hugs* and you know I’ve been praying for you for weeks already and I will continue. Love youuuuu!!!

I was on the unisom when I had Moo because I couldn’t keep anything down. It got better towards the end though. Surprisingly, I was able to keep spicy foods down really well but the heartburn was awful. I would say experiment with cutting different foods out of your diet and see if it gets better. Praying for you. And CONGRATSSSS!!!!!!

ahhhh congratulations!!!! i echo the sentiments of the previous posts: so sorry you’re feeling awful! i’d like to have #2 in the near future, but the thought of going through pregnancy again (amongst other things) is definitely weighing heavily on my decision to hold off. my crap aside though, let me focus on you and say again, CONGRATULATIONS!! praying for, thinking of, and sending sweet vibes to you! here’s to hoping things get better soon!

I know this is extremely hard for you. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with you. The unisom along with the vitamin b6 has worked. I’m a pharmacist. Zofran is the strongest but you can make yourself some ginger tea. Get ginger root and boil it. It can help.

  28. Anna says:

Congrats on your new baby! I felt so sorry when I read this post, I had the same experience when I was pregnant and it was so awful. I was also on Zofran but also had to take benedryl every few hours. It made me so tired and didn’t really get rid of nausea but I could keep food down. When I did have to go get an IV for dehydration around my 10th week, they gave me a snickers bar at the hospital and said for some reason, they usually help as well and it actually did. From that point on, I ate snickers and payday candy bars whenever I wanted (was worried about weight gain but quickly said forget that) and it did help settle my stomach. Also, french fries and mashed potatoes helped.
I can say, after all those months or being sick and weird eating, I have a happy, healthy toddler so your baby will get what it needs but I understand that worry as well. Good luck – hope you are feeling better soon!
