Soooo, nursery progress! It’s moving right along.  I have 2 (maybe) last projects to complete.  Once is the latch-hook rug, which probably won’t be finished until…I go into labor.  If at all, quite honestly, lol.  It’s a project that’s going to require a good of 40-60 hours of time invested, so I wont be picking it back up until I’m finished with all of my graphic design projects, and can devote the time to it guilt free.  The other project is crib bedding, which I won’t start until we move the crib from Izzy’s room, once her bed is complete, which *crosses fingers* may happen this weekend!  I won’t be making her bedding, since I can find her a cute bed-in-a-bag that will go well with her current color scheme.  Her room is coming along too, and I will take pictures as soon as her bed and all is finished.

I recently put up a picture on instagram, of a dresser that I refurbished for the nursery.  I got a couple of requests for a tutorial……which I didn’t really take pictures well enough to do!  Besides that, I actually got the idea from a tutorial I found on pinterest!

It went pretty well, but I will say that working on such a large project was a little tiresome.  And it didnt come out as smoothly, perfectly as I wanted it to, but I do love my results.:

The dresser was $35, from the flea market.  Roll of wrapping paper, 4.99, bottle of mod podge 7.99 (minus the 40% coupon hobby lobby always has), so under $50 for a cute piece! I already had a can of yellow spray paint, so I used that on the pulls.

In the tutorial, it was mentioned that the wrapping paper has a tendency to go wrinkly, and I DEFINITELY experienced that.  It’s not too bad, but definitely noticeable.  If I were to do it again, I would maybe choose a paper with a more textured pattern, or a darker color base, so it would be a little less visible.

Over all, if you’re curious, I’ve spent about $140

That’s about:

• $10 worth of contact paper, and scrapbook paper, for the tree
• $15 for the rocker, plus about $20 for the chevron fabric, so $30 there
• $10 for the flat sheet that I used for the drapes (used a drapery rod we already had for that size window)
• $25 for a gallon of Olympic Premium, in elephant gray, and about $10 for the coral color that I used in the chevron pattern (and the rocking chair).  (The other colors in the chevron, the yellow and the turquoise were recycled from other rooms in the house.)
• $5 worth of spray paint for the frames, which we already had
• $20 worth of supplies for the rug
• $45 for the dresser
• $5 worth of tissue paper for the pom poms

I anticipate that I’ll spend about $50 on fabrics for the bedding, which will still put me under $200 for the nursery, which is a GREAT number.  Especially when I see people spending $1000+ on them.  To be fair, we ARE passing down the crib, which saves us about $200 on buying another one, but still.  I can’t wait to show you guys pics of everything all put together and finished.  Hell, I can’t wait to SEE it finished.  I still honestly have a lot to do before baby arrives.

• Move office paraphernalia into kitchen.
• Make crib bedding
• Help finish Izzy’s bed
• Go through Izzy’s baby clothes, wash, hang, fold everything we can use for Zoe
• Make a list of clothing items Zoe will need
• Clean pack n play ( one with the built-in bassinet, Zoe will sleep in it, in our room, for at least the first few months)
• Buy a car seat for Zoe
• Make sure breast pump works
• Take maternity pics
• Continue to work on potty training with Izzy
• Make more freezer meals

I’m really, really reaching crunch time! Just 9 weeks until full term, and I’ve heard that 2nd babies generally come a little sooner than the first one.  I went into labor with Izzy 3 days before her due date, so I’m going to go with a week before due as Zoe’s “expected arrival” time.  I kinda hope she holds out though, since it would be really sweet to have her on Byrons birthday (Oct 30).  In any case, I would like to have all of my tasks completed by the end of September, so that I don’t have anything to really “do” for those last weeks other than lounge around and love on my Izzy before we majorly change her life (and ours, of course, but I know Byron and I can handle it.)
