So Little Miss Zoe is now 3 weeks old. She weighs about 9lbs now, which is blowing my mind! We ran out of her first package of newborn size diapers just in time, and she’s now in size 1s. Also blowing my mind. Glad I hadn’t opened a new box of those!
She’s awake more during the day, and doing a tiny bit of cooing, which is just…devastatingly adorable. She HATES tummy time. She’s already managed to flip herself over once. I still put her on her tummy for about 15-20 minutes each day on her mat, and she fusses the whole time, but moves herself in circles, and looks around, so I guess it’s working. Once she gets REALLY mad and starts actually crying, we go ahead and get her.
Breastfeeding is going well. She’s still quite the little boobie fiend, which definitely explains her weight gain. Still some soreness on my end, but it’s getting better, and we have pretty much perfected latching (unless Zoe sleeps a little late, and gets super hungry, therefore really frantic at the breast).
Big sister is still doing great as well!
She adores her baby sister, maybe too much! I find myself having to tell her to give Zoe space quite often. Being an active toddler, she’s not really that aware of her arms and legs sometimes, which could lead to Zoe getting kicked, kneed, elbowed, etc. So, yeah. We remind, remind, remind that gentle hands and a calm demeanor are necessary when interacting with baby.
I’m probably gonna accept some blog projects. Like, now. I need the mental stimulation. I miss the creativity. Oh, and yeah, Christmas is coming, I want the money, lol! I want to get a few projects under my belt before baby starts to be really demanding of my time. Right now I can just wear her, and she’ll sleep the whole time. In a month or so, she’ll be ready to play!
Speaking of playing, she’s really starting to respond to our interaction. Not really smiling yet, but her eyes just kinda light up, or she’ll open her mouth, or stick her tongue out. Cutest thing ever!
