Wow. It doesn’t seem like it’s really been almost two months since the last time I logged in here to post. Aside from being disgustingly busy, my body has just staged a mutiny over the last two months, and I’m not here for it.
It started with a bacterial infection that wouldn’t go away, and they couldn’t tell me what was causing it. So, antibiotics, and probiotics, which is freaking backwards, but OK. Then, here comes a damn bladder infection. The antibiotics for the bladder infection caused a tendinitis flare up so bad that I was actually considering joining a class action suit against the company. Then a different round of antibiotics, since I couldn’t take those, plus an antiinflammatory and painkillers to keep me from wanting to chop my wrist off.
Somehow, while on antibiotics, I got a sinus infection. Then my impacted wisdom teeth started up again, gums infected. So, penicillin and vicodin for that. We decided that it was time for those wisdom teeth to go, all four, so general anesthesia, then surgical removal of those.
Percocet, and another round of penicillin after that. Then I had to get treated for dry socket in the two bottom extraction sites. Just motrin for that. And now, I’m battling some hellacious cold that Zoe gave me, so this week is ala alma seltzer plus cold. So do you see why I titled this rehab? I would really love to NOT be treating a single ailment, not take a single pill for any reason for a whole month. Just to see what it feels like.
Despite all of that awfulness, things have been awesome, and that’s not sarcasm.
At school, in pulling through a’s in all of my courses. I’ve got another round of tests coming up though, so we’ll see what happens after that, but I’m expecting to still be in good shape. I’m a member of the non-traditional student organization, and got the opportunity to design our t-shirts, so I’ll share those once they’re ready.
Halloween costumes have been decided, and I got the materials for two very interesting costumes for the girls. Izzy decided both, and I’m going to keep it to myself until Halloween, so I can have pictures of the epicness of what she decided for Zoe.
I’m writing a book! I’m 21k, yes, twenty one thousand, words in so far. For a proper novel, it needs to be choose to 60k, so I’ve got quite a bit to go, but I’m very pleased with the progress I’ve been able to make with so much going on. When it’s done, I’m very strongly considering self-publishing (as an ebook) and offering it for free, just to get my feet wet. I joined a small writing group, with other black women, and it had been great to get their feedback, hear their critiques, and see their writings. It has improved my writing so much! If you’re a writer, and interested in joining us, please just let me know!
I think I’m getting back on the weight loss wagon again, for what, the twentieth time this year? Something like that. But my tuition covers membership at our FABULOUS on-campus fitness center, so I should be taking advantage of that, along with not eating everything in my sight. I have a compulsive eating issues that I need to work on. I have size 18 pants that are too tight, so something’s gotta give.
I’m sure that Izzy and Byron would disagree, but nothing new has happened with them, other than Izzy’s obsession with lalaloopsy, but that’s not new. I’m sure you can guess what her party theme will be. And Izzy met some friends:
And we took some family pictures:
Zoe on the other hand, turned one on the 17th! It’s almost hard to believe this teeny baby
Is this big ol’ girl now!
She had to look cute on her birthday, so i made her a bow to match her outfit.
I made her a cake, and blew up a few balloons for an itty bitty celebration, since she’s just one, and Izzy is having a “big” party this year.
Not exactly like the inspiration, but still cute I think. I may actually try this method again for Izzy’s cake, with a wider, flatter petal tip, and thicker, chilled buttercream.
In any case, Zoe enjoyed it!
Happy birthday Zoe!
So that’s where I’ve been!
