So, unless you've been under a rock, I'm sure you know Beyonce released a new album on Friday the 13th. I was up, writing a paper when I found out, and that homework assignment was quickly forgotten as I, after about 30 minutes of debating spending $16 on it, purchased the second album I've ever bought in my 26 years of life. The first? B-Day. I haven't listened to anything else since Friday.  Out of 14 songs, there are now only 3 that I skip over, and 11/14 is excellent. I can't quite pinpoint what it is about it, but this album?...

Every year, I convince myself that THIS is the year we're going to do our Christmas shopping early. Get it over with in September, or something like that. Guess how much Christmas shopping I've done? That's right. NONE. I even waited too late to properly shop for Izzy's birthday, since it seems like every reputable retailer is out of the Lalaloopsy dolls that I specifically wanted for her. Meaning, the browner ones. Not that I have anything against the other dolls, because they're based on a show, have different personalities, and she just might be attracted to one of those. Still though,...

I recently ran across a forum thread on Goodreads that left me feeling rather disappointed. The gist of it was there was no interest in the black romance novel. That people would much rather read interracial, or even white romance. They seemed to be of the opinion that all black romance does is perpetuate negative stereotypes of black people. Don't get me wrong, I've seen the "hood novels", none of which I will name, but I get it. A lot of people (me included) don't want to read about drug lords, and shootings, hood rivalries, etc. That may be someone's cup of...

November was quite a busy month! Now that December has arrived, I am greatly looking forward to the things this month will bring. •The end of this semester. I've said it before, but I'm kinda over school. Just for right now though, lol. I'm anticipating all A's, or at least mostly A's, so it has nothing to do with performance. I'm just feeling a bit burnt out. •My niece's birthday party. She's turning one, and the kids always enjoy a party. •Possibly hitting 50 sales of my book, Love and Other Things. I'm starting the month with 41, so I hope that's a...

Yep, that's the name of my novel.  Yep. MY NOVEL. Look at the cover! Designed by yours truly. And the title, Love & Other Things, is the work of my wonderful friend Krissy, because I was completely lost! Looooook!!!! Here is the description from the Kindle page: Third Time's a Charm-  Tara is a 30-something professional.  She's successful at nearly everything she does, except when it comes to love.  When she meets Chris, right after her latest love disaster, she steps out on faith. Can she put aside her past experiences to give herself a real chance at happiness? Where I Want to Be -...

It's 1am. Instead of doing something useful, (like getting some sleep, since I'm fighting an ear infection, and I have class in the morning) I'm sitting here in my bed, thinking about my book. I've put a lot of time, and a lot of energy, and lately, a lot of tears into this book. You see, I'm really in the home stretch. I'm about 13,000 words away from being done with this thing, and that causes me an incredible amount of stress. This is big. Really big. I'll be a published author. Self published, but still. I lot of that stress has...
