For this Recipe, You will need:

  • 2 Anjou Pears
  • I medium onion
  • 1/2 cup of Olive Oil

  • 1tsp of Ground Thyme
  • 1tsp of Chopped Garlic

So, I'm trying the meal planning thing again!  Well, I never stopped planning the meals, I just stopped posting.  But, as my family starts this year off with a pretty budget in mind, it reminds me that planning my menus, then using that plan to make my grocery list, is something that greatly helps me with keeping our grocery budget of $100 in line.  That $100 needs to cover not only our dinners, but allow for staples such as milk, bread, eggs, and the other things that we eat on a weekly basis, for breakfast, lunch,  and dinner.  Oh, and...

Brown 1lb of ground turkey, seasoned with Lawrys, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, shredded cheese, jalapenos, and salsa. Serve  with chips and enjoy. I had mine with plain greek yogurt on the side, instead of sour cream. Posted from WordPress for Android ...

Another quick post, sorry!  I know i've been posting nothing but food lately, but food is the only thing that has been going on besides work!  Sorry for the kinda crappy picture too, lol. Anyway, you may notice that in the picture there is pineapple in the dish, but not in the recipe.  This is because the pineapple was kind of weird in the context of everything else in the dish.  Not bad, just weird, so I removed it from the recipe! So, after reading about K.Rock's experience with her new mandolin slicer, over at Food Stamp, I pretty much HAD to go ahead and grab one.  I had been thinking about it for a while, so I felt good about getting.  Suze Orman says you should think about whether or not you'll regret the purchase later, and I can comfortably say that I do not, and doubt I ever will.   Until I (inevitably) cut myself on the thing.  Then I will hate it. Anyway though, I saw these sweet potatoes on sale for 1.50 for the whole bag when I went grocery...

Quick post of the recipe, since I don't really feel well.  I ended up adding broccoli as a second thought! ...What's on yours for Christmas dinner?  At the Jones house, we're having: Cornish Hens Dressing Greens Green Beans w/Potatoes Homemade Cranberry sauce Glazed Carrots Spaghetti Baked Macaroni and Cheese Fresh Rolls Candied Sweet Potatoes German Chocolate Cake What we're not having: Corn on the Cob, because I forgot to get it. Chitlins (Chitterlings, for you proper folks, lol) because...because....Byron hates them, and I can't eat a whole pot of them by myself! *sobs* What are you guys having?...

This was just DELICIOUS.  Nothing like that crap Rachel Ray had us eating a few weeks ago.  We did the little weekly recipe pull out thing from her magazine, and everything that week was just honestly awful. This week, I downloaded the Epicurious app for my phone, and chose 7 recipes to do this week.  It compiled a shopping list for me, and here we are!  This is actually the 3rd day, but this is the first recipe that I thought was just really AWESOME!! I did make a few changes though.  The original recipe called for peas, but I hate...

Best served warm, this berry crumble is fruity and delicious! So, on my grocery shopping adventure this morning, I ran across some beautiful strawberries, for only $1.88 for a whole pint! That was a deal that i simple couldn't pass up! I knew that I wanted to make smoothies, but beyond that, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the rest of them. I ended up picking up some blueberries on the same trip, so I decided to combine the two, and try this yummy dessert. I have made this dish before, but always with peaches or apples. Before today, I never would have imagined that I would enjoy the taste of warm strawberries, but this simple, easy dish is going to become a staple in our home!
