I’m gonna redo Izzy’s room!  For a while, I’ve felt slighted (on Izzy’s behalf) that her room isn’t as “cool” as Zoe’s, who could really care less about what her room looks like, and currently only uses it for sleeping.  So, I’m going to be doing a very cute, but very cheap, very DIY makeover of Izzy’s room this weekend.  Stay tuned!

I dropped my phone.  This isn’t exciting news, right? Everybody drops their phones.  I’ve dropped mine a ZILLION times, without it leaving so much as a scratch.  Until I dropped it in the garage.  Shatter City!  The screen is badly spider-webbed, but I don’t get an upgrade until November, so I just re-claimed my older version of the phone, which I had been letting Izzy use to play games.  I don’t think she’s noticed yet.

Speaking of Izzy, she knows her letters, numbers (can recognize up to 20), shapes, colors, etc.  So….what’s next?  Site words maybe?  I dunno.  I’ve been looking into preschool programs for her again, so maybe she’ll be in a class soon.  If I get this scholarship for myself, and don’t have to pay college tuition, we’ll use that for HER tuition.  So we’ll see.

I really, really, REALLY want that scholarship.

Listen….we use a lot of tissue in my house.  Rather, *I* use a lot of tissue in my house.  I buy the big 16 roll pack of Angel Soft a good 3 times a month, and it’s usually around $6.  Well, this time around, Kroger had the same size package, but in the Scott brand, for $6.  It’s usually $10!  So, of course, I got it.  MAN.  LISTEN.  i don’t know how I’m going to go back to Angel Soft after using Scott.  I’m pretty much always blowing my nose, and I haven’t felt the scratchy, raw feeling the Angel Soft usually leaves since I switched!  I’m gonna have to find some coupons!

Zoe is cruising.  YES, I said CRUISING.  At barely 7 months old.  I don’t know why I’m so surprised, because Izzy was the same way, but sheesh!  It’s so funny to watch someone so little pull herself up and use the furniture to get around! (and into everything.)

Speaking of little, I am so.freaking.sick of people asking me how old Zoe is, and then going “Oh, she’s so small for ___ months!” O_O That’s not a damn compliment.  Keep that shit to yourself, because there is NOTHING wrong with my baby, and she is a perfectly normal size.  All babies aren’t meant to be 99th percentile in weight.  I’m gonna start just staring at people when they say that.  Maybe they’ll realize it’s not ok.  Or maybe “You’re only ___?! Gosh, you look so old!”

We need a vacation.  BAD.  But it has to wait.  Because we have responsibilities, namely, those student loans.  But, we’re on track to send them a Very Big Check at the end of the year, so hey, maybe next year!  I’m thinking the Caribbean again, but Byron keeps talking about the Grand Canyon. o_O. We’ll see.

Seriously.  With the exception of the first maybe…two months, I have been struggling with my milk supply for the entirety of this round of breastfeeding.  I have sinus/allergy issues that won’t resolve themselves without antihistamines.  Antihistamines dry you out, and my milk supply isn’t immune from it.  I’m one of the *ahem* lucky women that resumes her cycle immediately after giving birth, despite full time breastfeeding.  So every.single.month, there’s another hit to my milk supply.

Imagine me, guzzling water like a maniac, drinking Mothers Milk Tea, popping Fenugreek like breath-mints, always attached to a baby or a breast-pump, AND taking those disgusting More Milk Plus drops, only to barely sustain a supply that’s not even enough milk for the baby. Even with all of that, we needed to supplement with formula!

So, Thursday night.  I’ve on the tail end of a nasty sinus infection.  Baby has woken up to eat, at about 1am, like she always does.  I’m nursing, switching between sides for about hour, longer than I ever have to be up with her, and I can’t figure out why she’s still so incredibly fussy.  I fix her a bottle.  A big one.  6oz of formula.  She guzzles it like she hasn’t eaten in days.  And it breaks my heart that my baby was that hungry after nursing from both sides.  After she finishes the bottle, she passes right out.  Super content, and I go back into our bedroom and start crying my little eyes out.  And when I was done crying….I was over it.  No more pills, no more drops, and I’ll be damned if I hook myself back to that machine.  I.am.over.it.  And as luck would have it, I came on my period the next day.  x_x

With Zoe being 6, almost 7 months old, I can’t think of a single benefit to continuing to stress myself to death trying to breastfeed.  She’s definitely not ready to wean yet, and I’m not even considering that, but she will be getting formula on a pretty regular basis from now on.  She makes it obvious when she wants to nurse, and I won’t deny her.  We’ll still nurse at night, because it helps her back to sleep.  But when she’s hungry?  No more hesitation to fix that bottle.
